Security Surcharges


Applies for both Domestic and International shipments.


Enhanced International Security Surcharge

TNT is implementing additional procedures, activities and investments to safeguard our customers' shipments whilst in our custody, following recent well publicised incidents involving the international transportation of shipments containing illegal explosive devices. To partially offset the additional costs an Enhanced International Security Surcharge will be applied from 12 December 2010.

Current TNT Enhanced International Security Surcharge Rates:

From 1 August 2016 to 30 June 2018 

  • $0.30/kg or part thereof applied to all International Express, Economy Express as well as International Special Service shipments
  • Minimum charge of $1.50 per consignment
  • Maximum charge of $20.00 per consignment

Domestic Security Surcharge

The TNT Domestic Security Surcharge is a charge applied by TNT which reflects the costs associated with freight movements within the domestic priority network.

Current TNT Domestic Security Surcharge Rate:

From 29 May 2016 to 30 June 2018: 2.5%

TNT reserves the right to change the surcharge index and table without notice. Both the amount and duration of the surcharge will be determined at TNT's sole discretion.
