With the growth in our global Freight services and more specifically Intercontinental Economy Freight services, the current fuel surcharge (FSI as a % of freight) cannot meet customer's requirement. Therefore, new Freight Fuel Surcharge (FFS) methodology has been introduced to air freight shipments since September 1, 2011.

TNT's freight fuel surcharge is based on the weekly average IATA jet fuel price (in US dollar cents per gallon). The FFS index (unlike FSI-%) will be a € per kilo index and vary based on invoicing country, direction and distance. For more information of IATA jet fuel price, please refer to the following IATA link: http://www.iata.org/whatwedo/economics/fuel_monitor/Pages/index.aspx "data-tnt-tracking="name:pagesection - link,to://www.iata.org/whatwedo/economics/fuel_monitor/Pages/index.aspx

For business import to and export from China, here is the example of FFS (week 35, from 28th August to 3rd September):

Each week, the average IATA jet fuel price will be identified and placed within an FFS Index table. Depending on the increase/decrease relative to the previous week's average, an increase or decrease in the FFS index will be triggered.

The Index table itself will not be visible to customers on the Internet, however the relevant rate for the invoicing period of time will be available on this website.

TNT reserves the right to change the FFS. Both the amount and duration of the surcharge will be determined at TNT's sole discretion. Please check the website regularly for any updates.
