TNT was awarded the contract based on its outstanding road network services and its ability to offer BMC Software flexibility and cost effectiveness for its distribution needs. TNT will be responsible for shipping over 60,000 consignments a year from 36 BMC Software locations in 21 countries across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). TNT will also be shipping marketing materials between BMC Software's Head Office in Houston USA & The Netherlands.
One of three companies to pitch for the business, TNT Express proposed an overhaul of BMC Software's current arrangements by identifying that up to 80% of its shipments could be sent by road rather than air, without impacting on delivery times. This solution will save BMC Software hundreds of thousands of dollars a year as BMC Software's previous supplier was unable to offer a comprehensive and economical road transport option.

TNT Express will be providing BMC Software with a comprehensive track and trace facility which is seen as playing a key part in maintaining good customer relations when delivering products. A close partnership will be maintained, with a full time TNT Express employee based at BMC Software's European Distribution Centre in Dublin, Ireland, who will be responsible for processing orders, generating reports and handling queries.
